Nicholas V. Martino, Jr., is a licensed Psychologist
with 30 years of experience. He obtained a Doctorate in Clinical
Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in 1994 and a Master's in
Clinical Psychology from Farleigh Dickinson University in 1984.
Along with his academic training he has a wide range of experience in
the field. While obtaining his undergraduate degree at Allegheny
College in Meadville, PA, he worked at a residential treatment
facility for adolescents and a sheltered workshop for mentally
retarded adults. He also worked at inpatient psychiatric
hospitals with both adults and adolescents, an adult residence for
individuals being released from state hospitals, contracted with
private practices to conduct psychological testing and psychotherapy,
and has worked at community mental health centers in Florida, Texas,
New York and Philadelphia (as clinical director) before coming to Life
Management Associates in 1994. At Life Management, he sees children,
adolescents, adults and couples and specializes in psychological
evaluations (IQ, personality, lethal weapons, competency, and
vocational), working with issues around families, separation and
divorce, depression, anxiety, and behavioral issues such as ADHD.
He has worked with clients that struggle with stage of life issues,
with adults and children that have been sexually abused, parenting /
co-parenting issues, individuals struggling with career issues,
marital conflict, bullying and difficulties in school, and internet
pornography. His therapeutic approach is eclectic with a
foundation in family systems and object relations. Treatment is
customized to the client with cognitive behavioral and
solution-focused approaches being used when appropriate. He has
worked with companies in dealing with employees with mental health
issues and has been interviewed a number of times by local media on a
variety of topics related to parenting and children's issues. A
member of LMA's CISD team, he has been trained to conduct critical
incident stress debriefings. Dr. Martino sees clients in our
Greenfield and Willow Valley offices.
